My husband and I love Disney! As Disney Vacation Club owners we visit now several times a year. One of my favorite parts of Disney World is the Animal Kingdom and my favorite area at Animal Kingdom is Asia! It’s easy when you are trying to get all of Disney in, to rush through the parks. All of the parks including Animal Kingdom are worth slowing down and taking in all it has to offer!

The Animal Kingdom is a popular destination, especially with their new World of Avatar. But, if you get overwhelmed with the crowds in Pandora, consider heading over to Asia! There is so much there to see, do and eat. Here are my five reasons to linger a while in Asia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

#1 The Food

One of our favorite restaurants at all of Disney World is Yak and Yeti. We love eating here because we can easily share a meal and we love Asian cuisine. We love the full service Restaurant (reservations recommended!), but they also have a counter service version with lighter fare. Our last meal we shared at Yak and Yeti was the Crispy Honey Chicken and we added Pork Egg Rolls for a $30 meal. (Side note: I highly recommend sharing meals at Disney. Most restaurants we have found give you very large portions!)

#2 The Entertainment

My husband loved to linger while listening to the musicians play here. He really enjoyed the Sitar player. There are many musical acts to be found all across the Animal Kingdom theme park! You can also enjoy the Rivers of Light from Asia. You can get a Fastpass+ to sit in the viewing area amphitheater for the show, but there are many viewing spots all around Asia to catch the show from. Get there a little early to be able to see clearly.

#3 The Rides

One of my absolute favorite rides in all of Disney World is Expedition Everest in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom! Be prepared, it has a few surprises in store that you won’t expect! You can also find the Kali River Rapids ride in Asia. I prefer to not ride this ride as I hate getting wet when I’m at a theme park and I can almost guarantee you that you’ll get wet on this ride! I recommend reserving a Fastpass+ for both of these rides. But, you can also try riding early in the morning, late at night, during Rivers of Light or taking advantage of the single rider line!

#4 The Shopping

There is so much unique shopping across all areas of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Asia will not disappoint. Check out Yak and Yeti Market and Mandala Gifts!

#5 The Monkeys!!

Another of my favorite reasons and spots to linger in Asia is the Monkey’s. They have a house surrounded by water with bamboo all around for them to swing on, climb, hang and relax. Be warned that late at night they head inside the house to sleep, so to see them the most active visit earlier in the day!

So, those are my 5 reasons to linger in Asia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park! Do you love the Animal Kingdom? What is your favorite part of the park? Share in the comments section below!
